Discovering Jewish Plateau and Mile End as part of the Jane’s Walk weekend
Join a fun and animated walking tour guided by Zev Moses and Stephanie Schwartz of the Interactive Museum of Jewish Montreal together with Sara Tauben, author of Traces of the Past: Montreal’s Early Synagogues.

Sunday, May 5 | 10 AM – Noon | FREE

Exploring main streets, side streets and alleyways, we will uncover 100 years of Jewish history in the Plateau and Mile End. We begin by entering the past through the doors of Temple Solomon, commonly known as the Bagg Street Shul which has not only been preserved but has continuously functioned much as it was the day it opened in 1922.  We continue northward revealing businesses, educational and cultural institutions and literary figures that defined and continue to mark the Jewish presence in this multi-cultural and dynamic neighborhood.

Sights and sounds of past and present will mingle through the use of mobile technology developed by The Interactive Museum of Jewish Montreal.  Please bring along your smart phones and tablets!
